Course Description
English Communication is a review course designed to refresh grammar and writing skills and to help students communicate more effectively. It explains how to avoid grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and other errors when writing sentences and paragraphs; how to write precisely and effectively; and how to improve one's image by using the right word in the right place, whether writing or speaking.

Improve their communication skills by expanding their vocabulary and word usage
Converse more easily and effectively, and with greater self-confidence
Understand others better, at work and in social situations
Learn more readily, both formally and informally, and with greater comprehension
Improve their spelling by such methods as analyzing their common spelling errors, applying spelling rules, and mentally picturing how a word is spelled
Define and effectively use homonyms, synonyms, and antonyms
Define and correctly use words formed from familiar root words
Recognize prefixes and use them to change the meanings of words
Recognize suffixes and use them according to the role a word plays in a sentence
