Course Description
"World Conflict" looks at how nations of the world seek to resolve their problems through the use of the United Nations Security Council. Through a simulation, we will be assuming the roles of various world nations who are members of the United Nations Security Council and seek to avoid
world conflict. The trick is, we will be looking at the problem from the perspectives of the nations we represent. Using this format we will have to endeavor to view the world as those we will be representing rather than relying on our own "United States" view.

As the world becomes ever so smaller due to the globalization of business, and nations are ever more so dependant upon each other, it is more important now than ever to try to learn to solve our problems peacefully through cooperation. Though this is the goal we also realize that each nation brings its own agenda to the table. The theme of this course is to solve world problems while still acting in the best interests of the country we are representing.

This course will use various web sites to assist in becoming familiar with both the countries being represented as well as with the workings of the United Nations Security Council. You will learn to use the Internet to research your country as well as our simulation topic. But most of all you will learn to work with people with whom you may not see "eye to eye" in order to settle a dispute.
