Course Description
This one semester course primarily focuses on the topic of functions at the Pre-Calculus level. The central topics covered in this course include linear, polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions as well as inverses, graphs and applications. The course will include other topics from advanced mathematics such as analytic geometry and mathematical induction. Students will develop skills in applying the concepts by solving real-world problems. This semester course is designed to cover all topics of functions seen in the first semester of the full-year Pre-Calculus course.

Graphing calculators are used frequently in each lesson to familiarize students with the basics of graphing calculator use, to demonstrate concepts, to facilitate problem solving, and to verify results of problems solved algebraically.

Course Objectives

Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.

Reason abstractly and quantitatively and ask useful questions.

Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others

Model with mathematics and use appropriate tools strategically.

Learn to communicate precisely to others.

This course requires a final proctored exam.

Delivery Method

  • Internet
  • Real-Time Web-Based Teacher Access
