Course Description 6th Grade Language Arts gives students the chance to explore many different genres of literature as well as various types of writing including; narrative, persuasive, letter, journal and more. All writing will be graded using the holistic scoring rubric to ensure students produce high quality work. In order to prepare students for writing, this course also stresses vocabulary, parts of speech, sentence structure and the proper use of a dictionary and a thesaurus. Students will also be introduced to a variety of different genres from nonfiction to folklore, as well as poetry and drama.
