Course Description Language Arts I MS puts a strong emphasis on vocabulary and reading skills. The course provides students with various reading strategies such as how to break down new vocabulary words as well as how to use a dictionary and a thesaurus. Students will read and explore different genres of literature and texts. Students will also write a variety of essays spanning numerous genres including persuasive, narrative, autobiography, and expository writing. All essays will be graded using a holistic scoring rubric. Students will also engage in discussion forums to reflect on literary topics.
