The course opens with the history and nature of science and how science and technology are successfully integrated. Living organisms are studied in reference to their structure and function and from the microscopic perspective of matter, energy, basic chemistry, molecular genetics, organization, and the molecular basis of heredity. From the macroscopic perspective, organisms' life cycles and reproduction, diversity, adaptation, life origins, interdependence, and behavior in the environment are explored.
