Course Description In Introduction to Literature, students develop their fundamental reading and writing skills while learning strategies to read fiction and nonfiction texts. They will read a variety of literary classics and poetry to identify literary elements, author's purpose, and context. Students will continue to refine their grammar skills and increase their vocabulary by exploring how language and punctuation are used to create meaning. They will conduct research by identifying credible sources and using them to support claims. They will learn how authors make claims and strengthen their writing skills by making and defending a claim using reason and evidence. Readings include: Romeo and Juliet, Frankenstein, The Declaration of Independence, Treasure Island, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. Partial Courses - Monthly courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 weeks Delivery Method
