Course Description
This course provides students with an introduction to the German language. Students begin their language study and development with the following four language skills: listening, writing, reading, and speaking through a variety of content related activities. The themes covered throughout the course are: introductions and greetings, friends and family, school subjects and classroom objects, free time activities, daily routines, and living. Students will learn vocabulary in order to communicate with others in a variety of real world situations in the German language. Grammar concepts explored include: subject pronouns and possessive pronouns, definite, indefinite and possessive articles, accusative case, verb conjugation (regular, irregular verbs, separable, imperative, modal, and reflexive), compound words, dative and accusative prepositions as well as word order. Culture is incorporated throughout each unit in an effort to help the student gain a more global understanding of cultures and customs worldwide.

A German-English dictionary is recommended but not required.
