Course Description The objectives of this course in chemistry are to allow the student to recognize personal safety, distinguish between mixtures and solutions, calculate atomic mass, identify positive and negative charges, write balanced chemical equations, calculate chemical reactions using standard measurement techniques and the mole, understand the behavior of gases, fluids, and to classify subatomic particles. The student will be able to identify universal symbols utilized in this field as well as the pH scale as it applies to various substances affecting everyday life. Students will also have the opportunity to utilize laboratory simulations to reinforce the major concepts of this course.
