Course Description A two-semester advanced computer science course for students with an interest in learning the Java programming language in preparation for taking the College Board’s Advanced Placement Computer Science A Exam. This course takes students from the rudiments of Java syntax and style to a mastery of data structures and algorithms, assert ions and except ions, standard searching and sorting, computer lab projects, problem-solving techniques, and well-structured program design. Students learn to code fluently using the programming language Java and become familiar with and able to use standard AP Java classes. The goals of this course are comparable to those in the introductory sequence of courses for computer science majors offered in college.
Delivery Method Prerequisites Student must have a B+ or better in an introductory computer science course (or must receive a waiver from IMACS). Other Information This course does not include registration for the AP Exam Offering. Students planning to take the AP exam are required to register and sit locally for the AP Exam. |
