Course Description The objective of the TV/VCR Repair program is to prepare the student for a career in television and VCR repair. Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to utilize basic electronic skills in order to pinpoint problems with TV's and VCR's; clean, service, and repair TV's and VCR's; perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance techniques and procedures; identify and correct VCR mechanical malfunctions; and understand how different TV and VCR systems operate. Students are instructed in the following areas: basic electronics; understanding schematics and circuit diagrams; television tools and test instruments; the television signal and receiver; TV tuners; TV receiver circuits; horizontal deflection system; color transmission; colorimetry; VCR troubleshooting; and VCR mechanical repair.
