Course Description The objective of this program is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the basic principles of carpentry. Students who complete the program will be able to gain entry level employment as a carpenter in residential or commercial building or in industrial maintenance situations. The student will also be able to complete basic carpentry projects for self-employment. The student will acquire skills in math and print reading related to carpentry. The program also covers site preparation, building layout, building codes, safety, and proper use of common tools. Additionally, the student will learn exterior and interior framing techniques, roof framing, roofing, window and door installation, and finishing techniques.
