Course Description The objective of this program is to prepare the student for entry-level employment as an auto body repair technician. The program trains the student in the diagnosis and repair of auto bodies (cars and light trucks) that have been damaged via collision or corrosion. Some of the topics include: the body shop, safety procedures, automobile construction, hand tools, power tools, air supply equipment, materials and fasteners, MIG welding, collision diagnosis, minor and major repairs, body alignment, panel replacement, component servicing, corrosion protections, refinishing, painting and detailing, and cost estimating. Students will also learn what it takes to start an auto body repair business as well as prepare to achieve certification through the nationally recognized Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) examination.
