Communication expressions include a wider array of social greetings, introductions, simple commands, suggestions, questions, German folk songs, and enhanced storytelling. Vocabulary expands to include the domains of animals, body parts, numbers, shapes, small objects, familial relationships, food, cooking, and new words useful for telling stories such as "The Three Little Pigs" and "Chicken Little" in German. Grammar adds more third-person present-tense verbs, direct and indirect articles, and the conjunction aber, progressing toward new third-person plural present-tense forms, third-person past-tense verbs, additional prepositions, and expressions conveying "very." Children are also exposed to the simple future tense in the third person.
