READING

Read to determine the meanings and pronunciations of unfamiliar words and phrases

Read and demonstrate comprehension of a variety of fiction, narrative non-fiction, and poetry

Read and demonstrate comprehension of informational selections

Apply knowledge of appropriate reference materials

WRITING

Develop narratives, expository, and persuasive writing

Edit writing for correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, spelling, structure and paragraphing
