Course Description
Note: This course is intended to teach and reinforce crucial academic skills to help students strengthen their background in the subject area prior to taking an advanced level course. Students who have already taken the Virtual High School course "Environmental Science: The World Around Us" should not take this course.

This course offers an introduction into Environmental Science. As an Introductory course, we will focus on both the discipline of Environmental Science as well as using the scientific method to complete a well designed lab report.



We will study various aspects of the environmental realm. Topics include: Biodiversity, Population Density, Air, Water and Soil Pollution to name a few. We look at literary components such as "The Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson, and "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss. We will review governmental policies and view potential environmental careers. As topics arise in the news, we will discuss their implications locally and globally. In depth discussion of the topics and issues will be a key component to the course. Assignments will include lab reports, readings, journaling and discussions.

    Biology. Access or ownership of the book "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss.

    Virtual High School will have course materials, if any, shipped directly to students. While there is no additional cost for course materials, there is an additional charge for shipping. Students are required to return such course materials to course instructor upon completion of the course.
