Course Description Our Writing Tutorials course helps students sharpen their writing skills through a nonthreatening, step-by-step approach. The following types of essays are analyzed and practiced: compare/ contrast, persuasive, eyewitness report, critical review, reflective, interpretive, narrative prose and research. Students learn to develop the writing process from brainstorming to outlining, drafting and revising. They learn how to cite sources correctly in different types of writing, visiting an array of websites that teach the skills and practices of sound writing. Each lesson provides a rubric, so students know exactly how their writing will be evaluated. This course meets state standards and is based on the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) standards. College prep.
