Course Description
Do you wonder why too much salt makes your blood pressure increase? Do you wonder why thin women are more likely to have osteoporosis than heavier women or than men? You'll discover these answers and answers to other questions about your body's function in this course that will cover human anatomy and physiology from the viewpoint of those parts of the body that are major players in keeping the body stable.

You'll study the processes that are involved in maintaining homeostasis and will cover the anatomy you must know in order to understand those processes. You'll use tools such as flowcharts, modeling, and control system concepts to study these processes. You'll use imaging software to help study the anatomy. The course will also encourage you to examine your own learning--how you learn and how you know what you know. The final evaluation will include a group project, your daily work, and a portfolio of your work and your thinking that will show me how and why your thinking and understanding have changed during the course.
