Course Description This course will examine the relationships between events in the twentieth century, the evolution of popular music, and the cultural messages that music displayed. The course begins with a look at how popular culture (be it art, theatre, literature, or music) has been "historical" in the past. Students will proceed through each decade of the twentieth century, examining the cultural impact of blues, jazz, rock, reggae, pop, metal, folk, country and rap. Students will examine lyrics and historical events, and analyze how lyrical content has changed over time.
Delivery Method Prerequisites An open mind and a love of music Course Materials Virtual High School will have course materials, if any, shipped directly to students. While there is no additional cost for course materials, there is an additional charge for return shipping. Students are required to return such course materials to course instructor upon completion of the course. |
